HSBC loses 9000 costumers after large-scale data theft.

The UK's bank HSBC is embarrassed by a large-scale theft of data of rich customers from its Swiss establishment.
As it now transpires, a former IT assistant, has about three years ago, the bank accounts of 24,000 customers realised.
The data would partly be communicated to the French tax authorities.

HSBC offered his apology on Thursday. In December it was already clear that there was theft, but the Bank
stated that less than 10 customers were affected thereby. Of the 24,000 HSBC customers, in the last few years,
nine thousand customers said Goodbye to the bank and opened an account with another bank. The affair led at the end
last year to tensions between France and Switzerland.
The French tax authorities used the  information to detect tax evasion through secret accounts in Switzerland.
Both countries have now settled their argument. France has copies of the stolen information returned and has ensured that
the information will not be supplied to other countries. HSBC admitted on Thursday, after inspection of the data,
that not only bank details of French customers are stolen by the way.
